Well, today is the day of the Great Katrina Blogfest, and far be it from your humble host not to participate!
As I have already said, Bill Hennessy has opened a webpage dedicated to registering people who have room in their homes and are willing to let storm victims stay with them temporarily: Homes for Katrina Victims.
And I still think that we should make this a permanent effort, so that we are ready for the next disaster with temporary shelter for its victims. I know of no one else who is pushing this idea, so if you do, please put us in touch one way or another. Thanks.
If you can't offer a bit of space in your home, please consider donating donate a few dollars to The Salvation Army, as Bill Quick has done and recommended. They have one of the lowest overhead factors of any charity out there, which means that more of each dollar will actually go to storm victims.
Whatever you do, don't sit around complaining. Do something.
UPDATE: Thanks to Instapundit and Eric (of the LLP Community) for the links! Gosh; my very first Instapundit link! Yeah, I know it was buried amongst a gazillion other bloggers' Katrina aid links (and there was no Instalanche), but hey, it still felt good.
Technorati tags: flood aid, hurricane Katrina

btw.. I'm loving this outpouring of aid and support from europe and the rest of the world... :-(
Makes no difference though.. next big crisis on this planet and the US will be all over it with relief because, by God, that's the foundation we were build on.

Oh--actually, there are some contributions coming in from several nations, so it's not as bad as some of us thought it would be.
But you're right--next time there's a disaster in Timbuktu or somewhere, we'll be all over it, just because that's who we are.
